Robert J. Underberg Sr., age 82, passed away on November 26, 2015 at the Faith Regional Norfolk Memorial Hospital after a long battle with pneumonia, heart, and kidney complications.  He was a resident of the Norfolk Veterans Home, Norfolk, NE.  Bob was born on June 13, 1933, in Breckenridge, Minnesota, son of the late Henry and Adeline (Castle) Underberg.  He grew up in a small town in Kent, MN, and was a 1952 graduate of St, Joseph High School, Wild Rice, North Dakota.  Bob was a resident of Sunset, Utah for more than 25 years, leaving in 2003 to live with his daughter and family in Nebraska.

Bob was preceded by his dearly loved wife of 46 years Clara Deane (Allen), his brother Raymond B. Underberg, and one brother Kenneth in infancy.  Bob is survived by his sister Theresella Whisenant, half-sisters Elizabeth Nelson and Patty Halbakken.  Also by his three children, Mark Burns, Robert Underberg Jr., and Theresella Bennett, his seven grandchildren and 16  great-grandchildren, and 3 great-great-grandchildren.  As well as numerous nieces, nephews, and other relatives and friends.

Bob is a veteran of the Korean and Vietnam Wars, and proudly served his country for more than 20 years as a munitions disposal technician, where he earned several medals, decorations, and unit citations.  The discipline and patriotism he learned in the United States Air Force were lifetime attributes that never left him, as friends and family will attest.  Bob retired from the USAF in 1973 to pursue his other passions; his family, truck driving, hunting, and fishing.
