Our beloved father and grandfather, Robert Howard VanZweden, 92, passed away Saturday, October 27, 2012. He was born April 18, 1920 in Ogden, UT to Cornelius and Hedrina Schelling VanZweden. He married Ethelyn Whetton on October 8, 1946 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. They were later divorced. He then married Ann Asay in 1974. He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and a longtime member of the Clearfield 4th Ward.

He proudly served in the U.S. Navy during World War II, primarily in the Pacific Theater. Upon his return he resumed working for the Southern Pacific Railroad as a machinist, retiring in 1981.

Dad enjoyed many hobbies including gardening, beekeeping, raising chickens, ducks, pigs, sheep, cows and horses earning him the nickname of "Cowboy Bob." He also enjoyed canning, baking bread and fishing with his brothers, sisters and grandchildren.

He is survived by his two sons Carl (Anh Kim) VanZweden, Brent (Robin) VanZweden, his daughter Lynette Wojciechowski, step-daughter Stephanie Richardson, seven grandchildren: Albion, Keelie, Teressa, Lindsie, Brock, Koree, Nick; five great-grandchildren: Kade, Kylee, London, Charlie, T''Maea; and brother Lee. He was preceded in death by his wife Ann, his parents, three brothers: Henry, Gene and Neil; three sisters: Addie, Ruth and June; Carl''s previous wife Pollyann and son-in-law Dane. Funeral services will be held Friday, November 2, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3403 Washington Blvd. where friends may visit family from 9 to 11 a.m. prior to services.

Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery, 526 E. 2850 N., North Ogden, UT.
