On a sad, but lovely November day, Robert Neil Voorhees, 89, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, November 6, 2013. He was born on December 5, 1923 in Manti, Utah, the son of Henry and Aileen Madsen Voorhees. He was raised in Manti and graduated from Manti High School and attended Utah State University.
Neil married June Faye Simpson on June 2, 1943 in Salt Lake City. June passed away in 1993 shortly after they celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary.
He worked as a statistical analysist at Hill Air Force Base until his retirement.
Neil was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
He was mechanically gifted and loved to build cars and motorcycles. Neil was a good support to his wife in everything she did. His greatest joy was just hanging with his family. He will be remembered for being a good friend to all.
Neil is survived by his sons, Bob (Susan) Voorhees, serving a mission in Russia; and Bruce (Saralee) Vorhees, North Ogden; 13 grandchildren and 26 great-grandchildren, brothers, Don Voorhees and Doug (Elsa) Voorhees; and sister-in-law, Beulah Voorhees.
He was preceded in death by his wife, parents, three brothers, and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 9, 2013 at 2 p.m. at the Washington Terrace 5th Ward Chapel, 350 West 5100 South. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the church. Services entrusted to Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary.
Interment, Lindquist''s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd.
