Robert Cheney Wadsworth
January 29, 1926 ~ April 3, 2015

Robert (Bob) Cheney Wadsworth of Ogden, Utah passed peacefully in his sleep at home after a long, valiant fight with cancer. He was born in Arco, ID, the youngest child of Lillian Cheney and Warren Wadsworth.

Bob served in the Army during WW II in the Philippines and Japan as a communications specialist. In 1946, he married the love of his life, Bessie Mae Cornia, and in 1967 the couple and their three children were sealed as an eternal family in the Logan LDS Temple. They very happily spent over 68 years together.

Bob served faithfully in the LDS church as a dedicated, faithful home teacher and held many callings through the years.

Much of his career of 34 years was spent as a Logistics supervisor at HAFB.  Before and after his retirement he was a Realtor and his clients always became his good friends.  He was outgoing and made friends everywhere he went.

He loved to fish and spent many, many happy, relaxing hours tying flies and fishing with his son, Bob.  He enjoyed golfing with his family and friends.  His favorite day golfing was when he got a Hole in One at Mulligans golf course.

As the family grew and the grandkids came, he stayed very involved in the lives of his posterity. Bob and Bessie were always happy to entertain their kids, grandkids and great-grandkids.  They never missed a birthday party, recital, soccer game, concert or celebration of any kind. Their family home became a gathering place full of laughter, warmth and joy.

They loved to travel and enjoyed trips all over the world with family and friends. They held an annual trip for the family on a houseboat at Lake Powell. This trip was a highlight for everyone.  Spending time with Grandpa during family swim time and learning to ski as well as the numerous fishing trips at Lake Powell and many other places are all memories the entire family will cherish forever.

Bob was gentle and kind and loved by all who knew him.  Each one of us felt like we were his favorite. Children, whether they were related or just kids in the neighborhood, and animals of all kinds held a special place in his heart. He will be greatly missed for his sense of humor, his wise counsel and his loving and generous ways. However, we are forever grateful to know of Heavenly Father’s eternal plan and know we will be blessed to live with him again.

Bob is survived by his wife Bessie; son Robert Jr.; daughters Tamara (Gregory) Daich and Lori (Kevin) Coombs; 11 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren.

Bob was preceded in death by two brothers; two sisters; and a grandson, Alan.

We express our tremendous gratitude to our brother, Bob, for the extra loving care that he gave our dad so that he could remain at home where he wanted to be. The family would also like to thank Dr. Harold Johnson for his care over the last few years.

Funeral Services will be held on Tuesday, April 7 2015 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and on Tuesday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment will be at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
