Robert “Bob” Brink Wasserlein, 74, passed away Wednesday, August 7, 2013 at his home after a courageous battle with leukemia. He was born November 29, 1938, in Joliet, IL to Henry George and Dorothy Brink Wasserlein. He married Margaret “Peggy” Wilkins on April 23, 1966 in Yonkers, NY.
Bob served in the US Air Force and retired after 23-1/2 years as a SMSgt. He worked for Iomega for 18 years and was employed by Total Quality Systems (TQS). He served as a Lector, Eucharistic minister, photographer, and managed the bulletin at Christ Prince of Peace Catholic Community, Hill AFB. He was also a Stephen Minister at the Hill AFB Chapel. He was a HAM radio operator, active in the Amateur Radio Relay League and has been licensed since 1955 (W9UCS and W4FDJ). He was a storm watcher, an electronics “gadget guy” and a crossword puzzle enthusiast.
He is survived by his wife Peggy, daughter Wendy Anne (Daniel) Myers, Hooper, UT; sons Robert Brink (Maria) Wasserlein Jr., Hooper, UT, and William Thomas Wasserlein, Kaysville, UT, grandchildren Cydni, Kollin, Warren, Maggie, Carly, Owen, Tanner, and Liam. Also survived by brothers John (Luci) Wasserlein and Ted (Kate) Wasserlein.
Preceded in death by his parents and sister-in-law Marsha Wasserlein.
Funeral Mass will be held Monday, August 12, 2013 at 10 a.m. at the Hill AFB Chapel. Friends may visit with family on Sunday at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd. from 6-7:30 p.m. with a vigil to be held at 7:30 p.m.
