Beloved husband, father, and grandfather Robert Miller Whitehorn, 93, passed away on Monday, August 15, 2016 at his home with his wife by his wife.  He will be greatly missed.  He was born on December 3, 1922 in North Hempstead, New York to Homer and Ella Whitehorn.  He served in the Army Air Corps of the United States and flew missions over Germany during WWII.

He attended University of Michigan, Los Angeles Community College, and UCLA.  He graduated from UCLA with a Bachelors in Engineering with an emphasis in Aerospace Engineering.  He received his Masters in Engineering also from UCLA.  Robert retired from Autonetics as Chief of Engineering, Inertial Navigation Division. While at Autonetics  he invented several things like Fiberoptics, Clear Air Turbulance (CAT) Device, and the inertial navigation system for the Apollow II Spacecraft.

Robert is a member of Golden Spike Gem and Mineral Society.  He was an avid “rock hound”.  He loved to do genealogy. 

Robert is survived by his wife, Edna Mae Winters; son, Craig Whitehorn; daughter, Lynda Saffery; four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren.  He was preceded in death by his parents and sister, Helen Whitehorn.

Graveside services will be held on August 30, 2016 at the Riverside National Cemetery in Riverside, CA.  Arrangements entrusted to Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary.
