Robert LeRoy Zamora Sr.
LAYTON a" Robert LeRoy Zamora Sr., 67, passed away Wednesday, August 22, 2007 at his home from cancer.
He was born November 15, 1939 in Trinidad, Colorado the son of Emelio and Lillie Guiteriez Zamora.
Robert married Dixie R. Holder on November 3, 1962 in Sacramento, California. She preceded him in death on January 5, 2001.
He was raised in Pueblo, Colorado and traveled all over the world with his wife and children while serving in the U.S. Air Force. They settled in Utah in August of 1975. He served seven tours of duty in Vietnam. After 20 years of service he retired and went to work at Hill Air Force Base retiring after 20 years in 2002.
Robert was a member of the American Legion Post 87 and served as commander several different times. He was head of Sub for Santa which he really took pride in being part of it.
He was a member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton.
Robert enjoyed the outdoors, fishing, and was a huge Denver Bronco and Ogden Raptors fan. He loved his family and enjoyed spending time with them.
Surviving are his two sons, Robert L. (Tracey) Zamora Jr., Layton; Donald R. (Kathy) Zamora, Roy; three daughters, Theresa L. Baker, Layton; Cheryl L. Brown, Afton, WY; Suzan (Russell) Romero, Layton; 13 grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, mother, Lillie (T.J.) Trujillo, Pueblo, CO; two brothers, Nicholas "Sonny" (Sue) Zamora, Arkansas; Raymond (Carla) Trujillo, Pueblo, CO; and sister, Betty Martinez, Pueblo, CO.
Preceded in death by his beloved wife Dixie, father, Emiligo, step-father, Joe Trujillo, brother, Gilbert, and mother and father-in-law, Irene and Carl Holder.
Mass of the Christian Burial will be held Monday, August 27, 2007 at 9 a.m. at the St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 210 South Chapel Street with Monsignor Victor Bonnell officiating. Friends and family may call Sunday from 5 to 7 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Prayer service at 7 p.m.
Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road where military honors will be accorded.
The family would like to give special thanks to Vista Hospice, Dr. Jason Stinnett, Cassie Lynn Baker who loved her grandfather very much and Crissy and Barney Bernath.
