Roberta  Grace Thaxton Allgood

Roberta was born in Tensleep, Wyoming July 30, 1925, to Grace Elmira Hatch and George Thaxton. She married Jay R Allgood on August 22, 1947. They were later sealed in the Salt Lake LDS temple. She died in Clearfield, Utah, September 30, 2016.

She is preceded in death by her parents, six siblings, daughter Jadalyn, son Jordan, and daughter-in-law Kathy.

Roberta raised four children with love and warmth. She received a BA from Utah State and did post-graduate work in Education. She taught public school for 19 years, mostly 2nd grade, and inspired many children with a love for learning. She served in many callings in the LDS church, including ward Primary and Relief Society Presidents. She was also active in community service, including PTA and the Oxnard California Symphony League.

Roberta was an accomplished seamstress, making many items for herself (including her own wedding dress) and her daughters. In her later years she devoted her sewing skills to quilting. Her home was always beautifully decorated and her gardens were always full of flowers.
