“Together Again”

Our dear beloved mother and grandmother, Roberta Ruth Martinez passed away on Monday, March 16, 2015.  She was born February 20, 1930 in Salt Lake City, Utah to Robert R. Benton and Leona Thompson.  She married Vernon Edwin Martinez on July 6, 1956 in Butte, Montana.  Vernon passed away February 18, 2005.

Roberta was a faithful member of St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church in Layton.  She loved being a mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with her family.  She also enjoyed cooking, as well as caring for her houseplants.

Roberta is survived by her children Eddie Martinez, Carrie Porter, Gerrie (Steven) Thompson, Joseph (Rose) Martinez, Yorlanda (Manuel) Santamaria, Miranda Martinez, and Delilah (Troy) Greetan; 19 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren, and her brother Don Benton.  She is preceded in death by her husband, parents, four sisters Ruby, Mary, Mona, Deanna, and brother Ronald.

Funeral Mass will be celebrated on Monday, March 23, 2015 at 10 a.m. at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church 210 South Chapel Street, Layton, Utah.  Friends may visit family Sunday from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  A Vigil with Rosary will be held at 7:30 p.m.
