Robert "Bob" Barker

Robert Blair (Bob) Barker, devoted husband, brother, uncle and friend, passed away June 10, 2018, in Layton, Utah, at the age of 96 from causes incident to age.

He was born June 1, 1922, in the Steed family home in Farmington, Utah. He is the son of George Frederick and Lucy Steed Barker. Bob grew up in Kaysville, Utah, graduating from Davis High School.

He married Glennis Pratt on June 15, 1945, in the Salt Lake Temple. Glennis passed away May 12, 2017. They shared 72 years of marriage.

Bob was a member of the LDS Church serving in many callings in his younger years. He was proud of his career in civil service working at the Naval Supply Depot, Hill Air Force Base, and the Pentagon in Washington, D.C. For 17 years, he worked as a computer systems specialist in the Pentagon. For nine years, he was in the office of the Secretary of the Navy as manager of the world-wide Navy Data Processing Program. At retirement he was awarded the Navy's highest civilian award –The Distinguished Service Award. He was listed in Who’s Who in Government and was an active member of the American Institute of Industrial Engineers.

Bob is a graduate of the University of Utah and attended graduate school at Ohio State. He and Glennis lived in Kaysville, Utah, Alexandria, Virginia (for 20 wonderful years), and retired in Layton, Utah.

Bob was a good provider. He was successful in investing and well-read on financial matters. He loved reading and learning and has an extensive library. He enjoyed working in his yard, gardening, watching the deer eat his shrubs, and feeding many species of birds. Their Scottie Dogs, Elliot and MacTavish, were so loved as members of their family.

Bob is survived by his sister Janet Webster, nieces Callie (Reed) Sorensen, Debbie (Mike) Kusuda, and nephew David (Vanessa) Webster.

Bob would want to thank his family, neighbors, and dedicated home teacher Ron John for the kindness they have expressed to him.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, June 16, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Lindquist’s Kaysville Mortuary, 400 North Main.  Family will meet friends Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary.

Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.

We love you Bob. Thank you for being a kind brother and uncle. We will miss you.
