Born October 23, 1949, in Prescott, Arizona to George Eldon Shelley and Zaida Marian Despain, Robert was the oldest of six children and identical twin to brother Richard Edward Shelley.
As young children, the family lived in Ray, Arizona and later moved to Joseph City, Arizona where the twins attended Joseph City schools and graduated from Holbrook High School.
Bob served in the Florida Mission for The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. Afterwards, he attended Eastern Arizona College and then Ricks College, where he met and married Barbara Law (later divorced). They had three children, Kimberly Dawn, Robert Scott, and Aaron Michael.
Robert was a financial bookkeeper for several companies and later became a paralegal after attending Westminster College in Salt Lake City, UT. Moving back to Arizona, he lived in Joseph City and had a paralegal business in Holbrook. While there, he was also a radio DJ, “Robert in the Morning.” Later, he moved to “the valley” and was an independent paralegal contractor for Cox Law for many years, where he was vital to their company.
Throughout his life, Bob enjoyed many hobbies, such as bike riding, building models, fly-fishing, remote airplane flying, and anything that took him outside. As a youth, he enjoyed cowboying. As a young man, Bob started playing the trumpet and was very talented-- performing in a dance band and playing “Taps” for holidays and funeral services. He was an accomplished golfer and won many tournaments. Robert also became a world-champion paintballer and was instrumental in beginning the Arizona state paintball organization.
Robert is survived by his children, his brother Richard (Debbie) Delta, UT, and his sisters Lyn (Allen) Bracken Layton, UT and Eldona (Jim) Stevens Herriman, UT. Preceded in death by brother Asael Reed Shelley, sister Shelley Marie Conway, and his parents.
