Rod was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.

He served his country in the U S Navy during the Vietnam War.

He loved his children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.  He also loved his horses, restoring old homes, traveling, and socializing with people; he was always the life of the party.  His family was his whole world.
