Gone Fishing

Hyde Park- Rodney H. Waite passed away on October 9, 2014, due to smoke inhalation from a fire in his home. He was born on December 15, 1922 to Evander Lee and Carrie Hurren Waite in Hyde Park, Utah.  His mother died when he was three months old and he was then raised by his Step-mother Onita Hyde Waite.

He fought in two wars: World War II and the Korean War.  He was very proud to have served his country.

He married Arlene Dial, from that union came three children; Jerry, Evan and Carrie.  They later divorced.  He then married the love of his life, Patricia Mortensen, in May 1976.  Together they had four step-children, Steve, Pam, Tammy and Doug.

He worked for the Civil Service for 37 years.  He loved to hunt, but his real passion was fishing.  Pat and Rod spent countless hours teaching the grand and great-grandkids how to fish.  He loved going to Wendover for a getaway.  Rod loved to play cards with the family, especially a game called 31.

He is survived by his wife, Patricia; brother, Ken (Barbara) Waite; Children, Jerry (Jeri) Waite, Evan Waite, Carrie Adams; step-children, Steve (Mary Lou) Chard, Pam (Verlan) Robinson, Tammy (Jim) Wood; and several grand, great-grandchildren.

Rodney was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Lee and Jean; sisters, Mary Mather and Joyce Sweeton; and his beloved son, Doug.

Pat would like to say thank you to all her neighbors and friends for the love and support that was given to her and Rod while living in Hyde Park.
