Roger "Barney" Allen Bernath

Roger Allen (Barney) Bernath passed away early Thursday morning, October 29, 2015, in his home in Layton.

He was born December 21, 1943, son of the late Richard and Vivian (Replogle) Bernath of Stryker, Ohio. In 1969, Roger joined the United States Air Force and served in various parts of the world before retiring in 1989. He was a member of the American Legion Posts 87 and 134 and the VFW.

Roger is survived by his wife of 17 years, Christine (Barfuss) Bernath; daughters Teresa (Jamie) Emrich of Memphis, TN; and Chrissy (Mark) Stuckey of Archbold, OH; step-children Cassie (Joe) Rodriguez, Catherine (Mark) Youngblood, Todd (Janet) Smith, Jr., Tatia Smith and Cody Smith, all of California; 5 grandchildren; 13 step-grandchildren; sisters Sharilyn Black of Ada, OK; Pam (Tim) Oberlin of Stryker, OH; and Laura (Jan) Schlosser of Bryan, OH; brothers Bill (Pam) Bernath of Stryker, OH; and Chuck (Rosemary) Bernath of Fulton, MI; and many close neighbors and friends from the Legion.

A Celebration of Life will be held with Honor Guard at the American Legion Post 134 on Saturday, November 14, 2015 at 3:00 pm.
