Roger Lee Jenkins

Roger Lee Jenkins of Huntsville, Utah, passed away on July 14, 2016 after a courageous battle with cancer.
Roger was born on April 7, 1930 to Lawrence and Alice Jenkins along with his identical twin brother, Richard. They were born in Rawlins, Wyoming. They grew up and attended school in Fruitland, Idaho. His earlier years were spent working on the family farm. He was active in 4-H, raising calves and pigs.
In May, 1949, he joined the US Navy and was in the submarine division stationed in Pearl Harbor during the Korean War.
He started working for the Union Pacific Railroad as a trainman and brakeman. He retired in April 1992 after 39 years of service.
In July, 1957 he met Shirley Stoker on a blind date. They were married on November 1, 1957. They enjoyed 59 years together. They have resided for 57 years in Huntsville in the same location.
They have three children, Rogina, Diana, and Larry; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren.
He loved his Heavenly Father and was very active in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints.
Roger and Shirley enjoyed traveling, taking family trips, and sitting outside and watching the world go by.
Roger is survived by his wife, three children, 15 grandchildren, three brothers, and four sisters. He was preceded in death by one grandson, Kyle Brown; his mother and father, brother, Larry; and sister, Mary Jo.
Funeral services will be held on Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the South Fork Ward, 277 South 7400 East, Huntsville. Friends may visit with family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church. Interment, Huntsville Cemetery.
