Roger Meeker

SOUTH WEBER – Roger Lee Meeker, 73, passed away October 27, 2018.

He was born on December 13, 1944, in Kansas City, Kansas the son of Edward Eugene and Lena Mae Frey Meeker.  Roger moved to Utah as a young adult and resided in Layton most of his life.

Roger served in the U.S. Air Force, where he served in medical services.

He married his sweetheart and love of his life Kathy Mikkelsen, on October 20, 1979 in Ogden, Utah.

Roger spent his career at Ogden Regional Medical Center where he worked in Laboratory services for 45 years.

Roger loved traveling with his family towing their trailer and seeing new places. One of his favorite places was Marsh Lake. He enjoyed the many trips his family made there where they camped and fished. Roger loved animals and it was not uncommon to visit their home while they were dog sitting for friends. He also loved to grill, on his near flawless 20 year old Weber BBQ.

Surviving are his wife, Kathy, daughter Erin (Brandon), son Michael (Morgan), three grandchildren Ethan, Jonah (JoJo), Emerson, mother Lena, sisters Rita, Milly, JeriLynn, Lynne and brother Jeff.

He was preceded in death by his father, sisters Wilma, Tina, brother Ronald, nephew Brian, niece April, sister-in-law Kathy and brother-in-law Bill.

The family would like to express their gratitude to the many doctors and nurses that participated in Roger’s care.

Memorial services will be held Friday, November 9, 2018 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.  Friends may visit family one hour prior to the services.
