Roger A. Schroeder passed April 11, 2015 at the age of 81. He fought his brief battle with cancer to hike and bike another day. He was born January 10, 1934 in Moscow, Idaho to William and Mary Ellen Schroeder. He earned a degree in electrical engineering from the University of Idaho. There he met his sweetheart Deyon Tate. They married and have four children, Zoe Lynn Kasteler, Jay (Joan) Schreoder, Jill (Paul) Grams and Kelly (Brad) Higginson. He has nine grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
Roger worked as an Electrical Engineer at Hill AFB for 43 years and loved his job. Wherever the US Air Force flew and had an instrumentation problem they called Roger. He was able to see the big picture, identify and solve the problem.
Roger loved the outdoors and spent his days hiking, skiing, and mountain biking all over the area mountains. An avid runner, he was proud of his personal record of running every day for nine years and eight months. He had a passion for tennis and spent many years meeting his tennis buddies weekly for friendly matches. He shared his love for sports and the outdoors by patiently teaching his children and grandchildren to ski and play tennis.
Roger loved music. He played the piano, harmonica, trumpet and ukulele. He had a particular fondness for Garrison Keillor who always put a smile on his face.
Roger was an outstanding husband, father, uncle and friend. A humble, gentle, and quiet man, he was always there to help others with a happy heart. We are grateful for a loving husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather who enriched out lives with immense love and support and leaves us with wonderful memories.
