Roger Dee Scothern passed away peacefully in his sleep on Saturday, October 1, 2011. He was born on February 7, 1951 to Wendell L. and Delores Harmon Scothern in Brigham City, Utah.
He lived in Davis County his entire life, growing up in Layton and living in Farmington and Kaysville. He married Denise Darrohn in 1968. They had three beautiful children and were later divorced. He married Colleen Phillips in 1980. They shared twenty-one happy years together, later divorced but remained best friends.
Roger worked as a mason in the construction industry. He was a wonderful father and person. He participated in many activities with his family and friends, including hunting, fishing, camping, golfing, and collecting coins. He was a great cook. He loved football and all sports. He was a wonderful mentor.
Roger is survived by his mother Delores (Lori); sons Chad (Kristie), Salt Lake City; Travis (Adele), Moses Lake, WA; Josie (Sam) Foster, Morgan; and Amber (Scott) Ohrn, Layton. He is also survived by his brother Gary (Marylin) Scothern, sisters Luann (Jeff) Abrams and Merlynn (Jim) Stoddard, 15 grandchildren and one great-grandchild. He is preceded in death by his dear father and his son Trace, who all shared the joy of fishing and camping together. "Gone Fishing."
Funeral services will be held on Wednesday, October 5, 2011 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. prior to the services.
Interment, Kaysville City Cemetery.
