Roger Dee Thomas
CLEARFIELD – Roger Dee Thomas, 52, passed away on Friday, May 11, 2007 peacefully at his home. He was born November 10, 1954 in Ogden, Utah to Ralph (Buzz) and Carole Thomas. He was raised in Clearfield and graduated from Clearfield High in 1973.
Roger married his high school sweetheart Debbie Barton on Friday, August 22, 1974 in Clinton.
Together they have three sons, Scott, Bryan and Chet. Their family was sealed on September 19, 1994, in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
Roger worked as an industrial engineer planner at Hill Air Force Base for over 33 years. He was a member of the LDS church and enjoyed serving others. He loved being outdoors, camping and fishing with his family. Roger was an excellent handyman. He loved to work on all kinds of projects from building homes to model cars. While he was not a car dealer, he owned every make and model of car and truck possible. His favorite car was a ’57 Chevy he drove in high school.
Roger’s favorite pastime was golfing, especially in his flip-flops. He enjoyed watching his sons play high school sports and continued to enjoy Friday nights at the game. He was a supportive, loving father and took pride in his sons. His grandchildren were the highlights of his life and he loved playing ball and wrestling with them. They all loved eating popsicles and going to “Old McDonald’s” together. Roger will be greatly missed by all who knew and loved him.
He is survived by his best friend and loving wife, Debbie Thomas; his children, Scott (Tiffany) Thomas, So. Ogden; Bryan (Jen) Thomas, Layton; Chet (Heidi) Thomas, So. Weber; his four grandchildren, Ethan, Brextn, Kenadee, Kembrie, his father Ralph Thomas, two brothers Gary Thomas, California; Ron (Julie) Thomas, Syracuse; and one sister Cheryl (Gaylen) Simmons, Farmington.
Roger was preceded in death by his mother Carole Thomas, and two grandsons, Kelon and Camden.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 15, 2007 at 11 a.m. at the Clearfield LDS Stake Center, 935 South State Street. Friends and family may call Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. at the Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 N. Fairfield Rd., and at the Stake Center from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park.
