Roger D. “Tiny” Thompson

October 23, 1949 ~ February 16, 2016

Roger D. “Tiny” Thompson, 66, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by his wife and children on February 16, 2016. Roger was born on October 23, 1949 in Ogden, UT to Donna Davies and Charles Gardiner Thompson.

He grew up in Ogden and graduated from Ogden High. He joined the Marines and served two tours of duty in Vietnam.

He married Merlene Woodland (later divorced). They were blessed with sons, Darin and Matt.

Roger worked for Juvenile Justice Services as a case manager for 25 years and influenced many young lives.

On May 21, 1988 he married Cindy Redd. In April 2015 their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Roger lived a life of honor and service. He loved the gospel and home teaching. At 65, we lovingly teased him about being the “grandpa” of the Aaronic Priesthood Quorum and at 66, the oldest Elder’s Quorum President in Utah!

Roger is survived by his wife, Cindy; son, Matt (April) Thompson; daughters, Tamaria Bradley; and Dyllan (Tyson) Guthrie; brother, David (Diane) Thompson and sister-in-law, Ellen Thompson. He was preceded in death by his parents, his sons, Darin and Nick; great-grandson, Bryken; sister, Gaylene Seamons; and brothers, Glen and Michael.

Grandpa Tiny loved his grandchildren, Dale, Mason, Mia, Madden, Monroe and Sage and great-grandson Bryson; nephew, Holland Redd and Nick’s best friend, Micah Medina held a special place in his heart. Roger had great love and admiration for his Redd family; Bryan (April); Lance (Vickie); Frank (Tara); Tina (Scott) Seeger; sister-in-law, Cindi; and countless nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, February 22, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Washington Terrace LDS 10th Ward Chapel, 125 East 5350 South.  Friends may visit family on Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd. and Monday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.  Interment, Uintah City Cemetery.
