Roland Clyde Cahoon
LAYTON a�" Roland Clyde Cahoon, 84, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2013 at his home.
He was born April 19, 1929 in Thatcher, Idaho the son of Alvin and Thora Cafferty Cahoon.
Roland married Alice Myrle Phelps on June 23, 1949 in the Salt Lake Temple.
He served in the U.S. Air Force and retired from Civil Service at HAFB. He was also a member of the Layton JAYCEES.
Roland was an Elder in the LDS Church Country Oaks Ward.
He liked to golf, travel and do auto mechanics. Family and friends were quick to recognize and express appreciation for Roland''s willingness to assist any and all.
Surviving are his sons, Val (Tanya) Cahoon, Layton; Martin (Penny) Cahoon, Maple Valley, WA; Lonnie Alvin Cahoon, Ogden; daughter, Holly (Shaun) Strnod, Las Vegas, NV; 13 grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren and sister, Bonnita Ahrendt, Montpelier, ID.
Preceded in death by his wife Alice, daughter, Janean Erkelens, granddaughter, Allison Erkelens, brother, Alvin DeVeer Cahoon, sisters, Donnette Frei and Erma Nelson.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, November 21, 2013 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family on Wednesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
