Rolene Joan Morgenstern Thompson

August 20, 1932 — April 27, 2023

Rolene Thompson, beloved Mother and cherished friend, passed away peacefully in her home on April 27th 2023 surrounded by loved ones.

Rolene was born on August 20th 1932 to Rolland and Neva Morgenstern in Fort Collins, Colorado. She along with her younger brother Robert “Bob” grew up in the wild frontiers of Alaska and Montana.

After graduating from high school, Rolene moved to Utah to attend BYU. While there she not only received an education but made many precious lifelong friends. She also became a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints which she served and cherished for the rest of her life.

Rolene met her husband Lloyd while both were working at Lagoon. They were married on September 18th 1952 and later sealed in the LDS temple.

Lloyd and Rolene bought their first home in Layton Utah where they raised their two beloved sons, Douglas Dee and Robert Charles.

While raising her young family Rolene graduated from Weber State College with a BS degree in Nursing. She worked at LDS Hospital in the Oncology ward. She took a personal interest in her patients and was loved by them and her co-workers. Her shelves are full of precious gifts she received for the exceptional love and care that she provided.

Rolene retired from nursing after 25 years when her husband Lloyd became ill. She provided full-time care for him and her elderly Mother (who lived with her.)

Rolene lived a life of Love and service. She loved unconditionally and without judgement. Everywhere she went she made lasting friends, with her sweet smile, contagious laugh and generous spirit.

She served others throughout her life in whatever capacity she was capable. She had a love of Missionary work. She wrote to and supported countless missionaries. She kept a map on her wall where she pinned pictures of them and their locations. They loved her and visited when they

returned home to share their stories.

Rolene loved to sew and was always making and collecting pajamas, blankets, clothes, and toys to donate to needy children, or for Humanitarian missions. All the little “nieces” looked forward to her

handmade Christmas nightgowns.

We will miss her sweet cards and notes, always with a comic or two included. Her positive words of encouragement made us feel important and loved.

There are souls in this world,

who have the gift of finding

joy everywhere and of leaving it

behind them when they go.

Rolene is joyfully reunited with her Husband Lloyd, son Doug, her parents, and many friends and family.

She will be missed by her son Charlie, her brother Bob, her devoted friend and caregiver Diane Gleason and countless other friends.
