Roma Richardson "Peaches" Harper

Roma Richardson “Peaches” Harper, 89, passed away Saturday, January 31, 2015 at the Beehive Home in Eden, Utah, surrounded by family members.
She was born November 28, 1925 in Brigham City, Utah, the second daughter of Edgar Josiah Richardson and Minnie Bolette Romer Richardson.
Roma met the love of her life, Wendell William Harper while they were both serving a mission in Minnesota. On April 7, 1948, they were married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.
As a dedicated, faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, she served diligently in various callings including Relief Society President, several times and Temple worker. Roma and Wendell also served a mission in Oregon.
Her greatest love was service to others, including family, friends and often strangers. Even at the Beehive Home, she was always looking out for others. Roma and Wendell postponed a mission to help take wonderful care of a grandson with cancer during treatment at Primary Children’s Hospital.
Roma and Wendell had an amazing love for each other. They loved to paint and many of their paintings adorn their children’s homes. She loved to take rides with Wendell on the motorcycle and they also loved to snowmobile in Island Park with their friends. They loved visiting the Oregon coast, walking hand in hand along the beach gathering agates and sea shells.
Roma was an excellent cook best known for her Danish dumpling soup, banana cream pie, bread, cinnamon rolls and meatballs. Her home was always immaculate. She crocheted beautiful afghans for her family and grandchildren. Later in life she started making beautiful cards and gave them away to family and friends.
When Wendell’s health deteriorated, she was at his side, loving him and caring for him every single day. He passed away July 6, 1995. She later married J. Earl Johnston and he preceded her in death. She married Ernie Hale and he also preceded her in death.
Roma is survived her children, Teague (Ann) Harper, Randy (Kathy) Harper, Jan Tarter, Leslie (Amy) Harper, Julie (Dennis) Bowcut, and Shawn (Jill) Harper, 26 grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Donna Valentine.
She was preceded by her parents, and a brother, Edgar.
The family extends a special thanks to Dan Phelps, the staff at the Beehive Home, Dr. Kelly Amann and staff, also Symbii Home Health and Hospice, Alyx Gonzales (Nurse), Lesley Froerer (Aide), for their tenderness, kindness and compassionate care of Roma in her last days. Also, sincere appreciation to Hilary Campbell for her unwavering love, kindness, care and support of her sweet grandmother.
Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, February 7, 2015 at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South. The family will meet with friends Friday, February 6th from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Brigham City Cemetery.
