Our loving father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, and friend, Ronald Louis Christensen, 81, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 25, 2014.

He was born on December 8, 1932 in Burley, Idaho to Wilburn and Julia Pearl Johnson Christensen.

Ron joined the Army in May of 1953 and was stationed in Fort Monmouth, NJ. Shortly after in September, he married Colleen K. Roberts in Logan. They later divorced. He married Mae Green on December 28, 1973 in Elko, NV. Their marriage was solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple on June 21, 2008. Mae passed away on January 10, 2014.

Ron was blessed with a beautiful voice and became a very accomplished singer. In 1960, Ron earned a Bachelor’s degree from the University of Utah graduating with a degree in music. He taught music for 10 years in the Davis and Morgan Counties at the same time teaching private voice lessons, directing community choirs & musical productions in the Ogden area. As a tenor soloist he performed throughout the intermountain area with the Utah Symphony, SLC Philharmonic Orchestra as well as the Metropolitan and San Franciso Operas. He also spent 2 years touring with Norman Luboff Choir across the US & Canada.

Ron was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and spent his later years loving his time spent doing temple work in the Ogden temple.

Ron and Mae enjoyed going on cruises and trips with the travel trailer.

Ron is survived by his sons, Ron D. (Laurie) Christensen, North Ogden; and Michael Keith (Celia) Green, Evanston, WY; daughters, Cindy Lee (Garry) LaRose, Roy, UT; and Wanda Van Dyke, Sandy Valley, NV; 12 grandchildren, 27 great-grandchildren, brothers, Martel, Bob, and Dean Christensen; and sister, Karen Cornia. He was preceded in death by his wife, Mae Christensen, daughter, Koni Green; parents, sister, Joyce Christensen; brother-in-law, Richard.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, May 3rd at 11 a.m. at the Roy 13th Ward, 5127 South 2400 West. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South, and Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the church.

Interment, Roy City Cemetery.

The family wishes to thank the staff of Mountain View Care Center and his special nurses Brenda and Heather for their loving care the last couple of months of his life.
