Ronald Herr Ronald Edwin Herr, 70, of Layton, Utah died December 6, 2007, after a gallant fight with cancer. Born April 9, 1937, to Edwin and Esther Herr in Aberdeen, South Dakota, he moved with his family to Nampa, Idaho, where he spent the remainder of his childhood. Ron graduated from the University of Colorado with Bachelor’s Degrees in Chemical Engineering and Business Management. He then went on to build a 40-year career in the field of aerospace, which brought him to California working for TRW and later Utah where he retired from Northrop-Grumman (formerly TRW) after 22 years. His expertise in missile motors was so specialized that the Army asked him to continue as a consultant, which he did until recently. In California, Ron met and fell in love with Anne S. Woolever. They were married November 14, 1975, in Rancho Palos Verdes, where they resided until moving to Layton, Utah in 1982. Ron enjoyed playing tennis and getting together with his golf buddies for the weekly rounds and tournaments. An avid golfer, he continued to play until shortly before his death. Ron is survived by his wife, Anne, his children Wayne Herr (Shelly), Wendy Lundgren (Kenneth, Colonel U.S. Army), Gary Bradley (Andrea), Earl Herr, Brian Herr and Anne’s children Jeff Woolever, Senior Chief ret. U.S. Navy (Yvonne), Caroline Brown (James). His mother, Esther Herr (96), sister Patricia Harris, and niece Diane Harris. Ron and Anne welcomed 18 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren in the last 32 years. Ron is preceded in death by his father Edwin Herr, nephew Douglas Harris and grandson Ryan Brown. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, December 18, 2007 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends and family may call Tuesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Cloverdale Memorial Park, Boise Idaho. In lieu of flowers, family suggests donations be made to the research for Squamous Cell Carcinoma at the Huntsman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City, Utah.
