SOUTH OGDEN - Ronald Francis Huss, 72, died of Thyroid Cancer on Thursday, July 26, 2007 at his home with his family by his side.

He was born May 19, 1935 in Ogden, to Joseph Howard and Alice Marie Hill Huss.

Ron married Connie Smith (the girl around the corner) on April 11, 1957 in the Salt Lake LDS Temple.

Ron served with the U.S. Army Reserve for six years (1957-1963).

He retired from the Union Pacific Railroad with 42 years of service.

Ron served on the Snow Basin Ski Patrol and loved to ski for many years. He loved fishing, photography, gardening, cooking and spending time on the computer. He always enjoyed spending time with his family. He and Connie spent 10 years traveling in their motor home. They also toured many sites in the United States, Canada, Mexico and Europe. He especially liked to go on cruises.

Surviving are his wife, Connie, of South Ogden; children, Karen (Bart) Lindsay, Clinton; Sharon (Lew) Shurtliff, West Point; and four grandchildren, Kristin (Blake) Stoker, Colton Lindsay, Megan Shurtliff and Keri Shurtliff.

He is also survived by one brother, Joseph Richard (Maurine) Huss, North Ogden.

Ron was preceded in death by his parents and one brother Keith.

The family wishes to thank Inspiration Hospice, especially Angie and Kayla. Thanks also to his many doctors and the Browning Cancer Center at Ogden Regional Medical Center.

Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with Bishop Michael King officiating.

Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
