Ronald Kersey passed away Thursday, May 13, 2010, after fighting a courageous battle with Alzheimer''s. This horrible disease took his life but not his spirit which he clung to until the end.
He was born November 24, 1941, in Charter Oak, a small cotton-picking town in southeast Missouri. At age 17, he joined the Army and proudly and honorably served his country for five years.
Ron met his wife, Anita, while on his last tour of duty in the Panama Canal Zone. She returned to Utah in June of 1964 and he followed in November. They were married on February 25, 1965. Together they had four beautiful daughters, Cindy (Mike) Conner, Sandy Pecorella, Tammy (Eric) Gallegos, and Pam (Rusty) Hansen. They have 11 of the most beautiful grandchildren on earth. He was greatly loved by his family and will forever be missed.
He retired from Hill Air Force Base in 1993 after 26 years of service.
Ron loved sports and played fast pitch softball for many years back in the 1970''s at the 4th Street ball park in Ogden. His passion and love for the game of golf was unmatched.
He will be remembered not as a perfect man but one who truly had a sweet spirit and was a friend to all. His wonderful sense of humor was always present and will be fondly remembered by his family and friends. He was blessed with many gifts and even though his life ended way too soon, he lived life to the fullest until he no longer could.
We will forever be grateful for all the help and support given by all. A special thanks goes to Raquel from Comfort Keepers and to all those from Inspiration Hospice who cared so tenderly for him everyday, especially CNAs Luis, Matt and nurse Valita who stayed by his side in his final days. And Gracie, his loyal and faithful little companion who laid by him on his bed through his final breath.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday, May 18th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
