Ronald C. Maughan, son of Lowell C. Maughan and Carma O. Parker, passed away on May 17, 2013 at the George E. Wahlen Veteran Home in Ogden due to complications of Huntington''s Disease.
He was born on May 29, 1949 in Logan, Utah. He spent his childhood in Wellsville, Utah and graduated from Sky View High School in Smithfield, Utah. He attended Weber State University before entering the service. He served in the U.S. Army stationed in Seoul, Korea during the Vietnam Era. He trained in Savannah, Georgia specializing in Radio TT Operations. He returned home to help with the family business and help his mother care for his father, who suffered from Multiple Sclerosis.
He worked in Ogden at the Defense Depot as a packer/processor and also at Brills.
Huntington''s Disease took a toll on his abilities to do many things he would have liked to do. Ronald loved to take his dog, Daisy, and go camping and fishing. He was a loyal Utah Jazz fan and enjoyed watching the games.
Ronald is survived by his mother, Carma Parker, of North Ogden; sisters, Gayla (John) Pengelly of Ogden and Carol Larsen of Harrodsberg, Kentucky; step-brothers, Scott and John Parker of Bay Point, California; step-sister, Vicki Berger of South Ogden; and many nieces and nephews.
He is preceded in death by his father, Lowell Maughan; step-father, Douglas Parker; step-brother, Jeffrey Parker; and both sets of grandparents.
Graveside services will be held on Wednesday, May 22, 2013 at 12:00 p.m. at the Wellsville City Cemetery, 400 North 200 East in Wellsville.
A very special thanks to Hospice for Utah, Brett, Debbie, Chris, Lisa, Kevin, and also the staff at George E. Wahlen Care Center for all their tender care and kindness to Ronald and our family.
