Ronald Roger Harris

September 27, 1941 ~ January 29, 2016

Our beloved husband, father, grandfather, brother, and friend, Ronald Roger Harris, returned to his Heavenly Father on Friday, January 29, 2016.  Ron was born on September 27, 1941, in Dubuque, Iowa, to Charles and Marinda Schueler Harris.

He married B. Kathleen Harris at the Chapel by the Lake at Knots Berry Farm, Buena Park, CA on September 7, 1963.  Their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden LDS Temple.

Ron was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and loved serving others.  He especially loved socializing with everyone he came in contact with.

During his life, he worked as a mechanic, retail store proprietor, and civil servant.  He retired from Hill Air Force Base and US Air Force Reserves.  Part of his military service included serving in the US Navy during Vietnam War and the US Air Force during Desert Storm.

Ron was greatly blessed in June 2002, when he received a double lung transplant which extended his life 13 + years.  We are truly grateful to the many wonderful doctors and nurses at the University of Utah who took such good care of him during that time.

He was a wonderful father and always treasured every moment he could spend with his children and grandchildren.

Ron is survived by his wife, five children, Christina Harris, Ronald (Izumi) Harris II, Holly Harris, Tracy Harris, and Stacy Souza; 16 grandchildren, two sisters: Pamela (David) Ballard and Violet (William) Montgomery; and sister and brother-in-law: Carol and Ted Little. He was preceded in death by his baby daughter, Tamara Harris; parents, and one granddaughter.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 6, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.  Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the mortuary.  Interment, Aultorest Memorial Park.
