SYRACUSE - Ronald Dale Thurgood was born November 23, 1942. He was the first of eight children of Dale Bennett Thurgood and Vivian Lavon Anderson. On September 28th, our mother''s birthday, he went to heaven to deliver a rose to her in person. Dad was raised in Syracuse where he lived his entire 69 years of life. He graduated from Davis High School in 1960 and won the High School State bull dogging (steer wrestling) championship. He married the love of his life, Kaye Mignon Olsen, just a short time later in the Salt Lake Temple for time and all eternity. Dad and Mom raised six children. He was the best Dad in the world. He was the founder and owner of Thurgood Plumbing Company where he worked for more than 40 years. He worked with many family members in the plumbing business and supported his family well. Dad was an active member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and had a strong testimony of the gospel. He exemplified a Christ-like example in all that he did. He was a true man of service. He fulfilled his home teaching assignment the night before he left this world to be with our mother. Dad was a true Mule Skinner. He enjoyed training, showing, packing, roping and driving his mules with all our family. Our fondest memories of Dad are spending time with him and his beloved mules, especially his team Sonja and Merlin. He is survived by his six children: Monty (Lynette), Barbara (Brian) Adams, Kimball (Shawnee), Susan (Chris) Stoker, Roger (Shawnell), and Lisa (Trenton) Jones. He was the proud grandpa of 27 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren. He is preceded in death by his loving wife, parents, two brothers and one granddaughter. Funeral services will be held Thursday, October 4, 2012 at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Rd. Friends may visit family Wednesday from 6 a€" 8 p.m. and Thursday from 9:30 a€" 10:30 a.m. prior to services at the mortuary. Interment, Syracuse City Cemetery
