Ronda Strong Horspool peacefully passed away early Saturday morning, July 25, 2009 at her home. Her earthly journey now ending, she is free from her pain and suffering from a long battle with dementia/Alzheimers.
She was born August 19, 1950 in Ogden, Utah to Dern and Margene Dabling Strong, she was the second child of four. She was extremely intelligent and very fun loving to be around. Her beautiful smile set her apart. She was always willing to share the fruits of life with the many talents that she had. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many of her own clothes. She loved crocheting and knitting and was very talented in cross stitching. She has left with her family and friends many beautiful afghans that will be cherished forever.
She was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she served in many callings. Her favorite calling was that of primary teacher. She loved children, which is very evident of the raising of her own three children, which brought her much joy and love in her life.
Ronda spent most of her youth in the city of Washington Terrace, graduating from Bonneville High School and also receiving an Associates Degree from Weber State College. Ronda was also a very hard worker enjoying the many challenges as a Manager for US West, now Qwest, earning many prestigious awards and retiring after 30 years of service in 1998. She then worked for the city of Layton for a few years as a secretary for the City Manager and the Mayor, where she truly loved and enjoyed the special friends she made there.
Ronda met the love of her life, Larry Dee Horspool, a return missionary on a blind date. She expressed to her then roommate, Qwen Reed, that he is the man she''s going to marry. Together they have been joyfully married for 38 years, marrying on May 19, 1972 in the Ogden LDS Temple. From that union, Ronda was blessed with four children, one of which passed away thru a hard pregnancy. Her family was the love of her life.
Ronda is survived by her loving husband, Larry Dee Horspool; two sons, Rick (Yolanda) Horspool; Corey (Amy) Horspool; a daughter, Christy (Tom) Claxton; her mother, Margene Dabling Strong; a brother, Gary (Cheryl) Strong; two sisters, Sheryl (Robert) Koger, Jana (Jeff) Larson; and ten beautiful grandchildren, Spencer, Katie, Briea, Jessica, Courtney, Treyden, Bryan, Kiera, Trevin and Grant of which all were the joy of her life. .
