Roque Trujillo, Jr. 11/6/1941 ~ 12/28/2013
WASHINGTON TERRACE – Our husband, father, brother, uncle, and friend Roque “Rocky” Trujillo, Jr., age 72 quietly passed away on December 28, 2013 at his home surrounded by his family.
He was born on November 6, 1941 to Roque and Moncolvia Chavez Trujillo in Swink, Colorado. He graduated from Swink High School. He proudly served in the US Army during the Vietnam era.
Roque married Lydia Cardenas on January 25, 1969 at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Ogden, Utah. They were blessed with two children. He worked for Hill Air Force Base for 35 years.
He devoted his life to his children and three grandchildren. He coached for 20 years for AYSO, 10 years for Women’s soccer. He was a faithful member of Holy Family Catholic Church in South Ogden, and was a member of the Knights of Columbus. He was involved in the Club Social Mexicano for many years providing pageants and dances, GI Forum, and served as a board member for the Chicano Golf Association for many years. Roque enjoyed golfing, antique shopping, traveling with his wonderful wife, and gardening.
Roque is survived by his beautiful wife of 44 years, Lydia, Ogden; daughter, Rachel (Michael) Edwards, West Point; their two children, Alejandro and Tiana; son, Roberto (Lisa) Trujillo, Ogden; and Roberto’s daughter, Gabriella; brothers, Ernie (Elaine) Trujillo, CO; Jess (Ed) Trujillo, NC; David (Judy) Trujillo, West Haven; sisters, Rose Rico, CA; Carol Trujillo, CA and Teresa Cordova, CO.
He was preceded in death by his parents, brothers, Augustine, Frank, Herman, Michael, and Johnny.
Funeral Mass will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2014 at 11:30 a.m. at Holy Family Catholic Church, 1100 East 5550 South, South Ogden. Friends may visit with family on Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. with Rosary at 7 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Interment, Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd, where military honors will be accorded by the Combined Veterans Honor Guard.
The family would like to express their appreciation to Legacy Health Care, especially to Bonnie, Dawn, and Amanda for their compassionate care they showed to Roque and his family.
