Rosalie Muscolino

Rosalie Singh Muscolino

August 27, 1930 ~ June 19, 2017

Loved and adored as a mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister, aunt and cherished friend, Rosalie Muscolino passed away. With her family beside her, she completed her journey here on earth. With anticipation to be with those who left before her, Rosalie died at her residence on June 19, 2017.

Born at the family farm in Corinne, Utah, August 27, 1930, Rosalie was the sixth of seven children. Her father and mother Sunder Amer and Petra Moreno Singh raised their family as hard, dedicated workers.  Rosalie continued her upbringing and was devoted in all her endeavors.

Graduating from Box Elder High School in 1948, she continued her education at St. Benedict’s School of Nursing.  She graduated and became a licensed registered nurse in 1951.  Rosalie was instrumental in opening the first Coronary Care Unit at St. Benedict’s Hospital, Ogden. “Musky” was known as the go to nurse for difficult patients and impossible IV starts.

During the war, Rosalie lived with her sisters at Esther Hall.  Soon she became smitten with a young soldier from New York.  Anthony Muscolino was a handsome charming Italian who was stationed in Ogden.   Many a night they danced away at the Berthana and tagged along wherever her older sisters would drive them.  When Tony had to leave Utah, the romance became a cross country courtship.  At last, they were married January 29, 1953 at St. Henry’s Catholic Church, Brigham City, Utah.

Together, Tony and Rosalie raised seven children, Maria, Tina, Liz, Tony, Matt, Teri and Marci.  Fabulous laundry technique was not only an essential knack; Rosalie found it a gratifying obsession.  She loved to do laundry.  After an unfortunate car accident, Rosalie retired from nursing in 1982.  Her days became focused on keeping an eye on her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Reading, visiting and learning were Rosalie’s vices.  She loved going to the New Gate Mall with Tony for morning coffee and visiting with important friends.  Rosalie could meet someone once and learn much about them.  She loved to visit. Books brought the world to her.  She had many favorites she read over and over. A new chapter or a new book was very exciting to her because she wanted to learn as much as she could about people, places and religions everywhere.  Her faith and love for God was strong.  She said the rosary every day.  Rosalie also enjoyed sewing; an art she learned from her mother.  Family cherished the holiday pillows Rosalie would create for everyone.

Rosalie’s favorite place to be was the Florida Beach, “with white sand between my toes.  I wish I could go there one more time with my family”.

Rosalie is survived by her sister Vicenta Singh, Brigham, UT; and her children, Maria Muscolino, SLC, UT; Christine (Ernie) Vitello, Haymarket, VA; Elizabeth (Alan) Howard, South Ogden, UT; Anthony Muscolino, Ogden, UT; Matthew Muscolino, Centerville, UT; Theresa (Mike) Campbell; Riverdale UT and Marcella Charles, Layton, UT; and 11 grandchildren Crystal, Christopher, Sean, Joshua, Joseph, Ashley, Nathan, Ryan, Jason, Marissa and Malinda and 4 great grandchildren Gabriel, Alayah, Jayce and Gage and her beloved grand dogs Sophie, Curly, and Jack.

She is proceded in death by her husband Anthony Muscolino; her sisters Mary (Abraham) Cervantes, Santos (Godfrey) Pommier; and her brothers John (Donna and Helen) Singh, Marcelo Singh and Peter (Margarita) Singh.  She is also proceeded by many close family and friends.

The family would like to thank Ashley, Marissa, Wes, Holly, Brenda and Dr. DeRemer from Summit Hospice who helped care for their mother and family.

Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, June 26, 2017 at 10 am at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 514 24th Street, Ogden.  Family will visit with friends on Sunday, June 25, 2017 from 6 to 8 pm with Rosary at 7 pm at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
