Our beloved Rosanne Wilcox Birch, 82, peacefully returned to her Heavenly home on September 24, 2024. She was born on February 2, 1942, to David Henry and Ann Burnett Wilcox. She was a lifelong resident of Syracuse and graduated from Davis High School. Rosanne married Robert Sterling Birch in 1971, their marriage was later solemnized in the Ogden Utah Temple. They have three sons, eight grandchildren, and two great grandchildren with a third on the way.
Rosanne was born to goodly parents. She was the baby girl of the family with five older, protective brothers. She was raised on the family farm and would often share sweet memories of her happy childhood. She deeply loved her parents and older brothers. She would spend hours cooking meals for those hungry farm boys with her beloved mother. Perhaps that is where her deep love for cooking and serving others began. Rosanne was an amazing cook. She found joy in feeding others and would often cook enough food to feed a small nation.
Rosanne had a deep love for her Father in Heaven, Savior Jesus Christ, and His restored Church. She was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter- day Saints where she served in numerous callings such as Young Women’s president, visiting teacher, and primary teacher. Many of her young woman have sought her out over the years to express gratitude for making a difference in their lives. Rosanne drove a bus for the Davis County School District. She loved the children that she drove to and from school for over 30 years. Everywhere she went, she made a difference in people’s lives. That was one of her special gifts. She had a way of making you feel loved and of great importance. She has truly touched the lives of countless individuals.
Her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren were her greatest joy. She loved spending time with them and looked forward to their frequent visits. She would often express her gratitude that her “kids would burst through her door” and make her day. When she was able, she loved to visit Disneyland with her family. She found great joy sitting with her family at the dinner table and would often say, “isn’t this fun!”
Rosanne was one of a kind, in a wonderful, remarkable way. She would celebrate Valentines with carrot shaped cookies, had hundreds of unique sayings, drive her van all over town like she was still in her bus, and the list goes on and on. But above all, she was selfless and full of love. She loved her Savior Jesus Christ and strived to be like Him. She loved and served others with charity, the pure love of Christ.
Rosanne would often say, “I’ll see you in the spring when the tulips bloom.” At this time, in the winter of her mortal experience, her saying brings on new meaning as we anxiously await the opportunity to see her again. She is preceded in death by her parents, husband, and granddaughter Claire. She is survived by her children Wayne (Laurie) Stanger, Sterling (Camille) Birch, Robbie Birch, grandchildren Lukus, David (Macady), Adam (Renae), Sarah, Joshua, Austin, Will, great grandchildren Vinson, Harvee, and a baby boy coming soon.
