Rose Martinez

“Rosie”

Our beloved mother, grandmother, daughter, sister, cousin, aunt and friend Rose (Rosie) Martinez went to be with our Father in Heaven on the evening of Sunday June 5, 2016 after a short hard battle with cancer. Rose loved everyone and everyone she met fell in love with her. She was always happy to sit and visit, go camping, watch movies, have bar-b-q’s or just be silly and laugh with her two boys, family and friends. Rose loved her family with all of her heart and always put them first. Rose was a faithful and loving wife to her husband Larry Martinez whom passed away in 2003.

Rose was born November 12, 1954 in Sydney, Nebraska to Virginia and Fred Hernandez. Rose was the oldest of 3 girls; she loved her younger sisters so much. Rose also helped take care of her mother who has lived with her for the last few years and was always helping family and friends.

Rose was so proud of her two sons, Jason and Darin, she adored her grandchildren and loved to brag about what they were doing.  Rose would do anything and everything for them.

Rose was preceded in death by the love of her life Larry Alonzo Martinez, her father, Fred Hernandez.

Rose is survived by her mother Virginia, her two sisters, Teresa Rodriguez and Lisa Salinas, her two sons, Jason (Amy) Martinez of Woods Cross, UT and Darin (Yvette) Martinez of Clinton, UT, her seven grandchildren and one great-grandson and her many close friends that were like family.

Rose was giving right up to the end and wanted to further the research of her rare type of cancer, Cholangiocarcinoma (Bile duct cancer) and gave her body for study at the Hunstman Cancer Institute in Salt Lake City Utah.

In lieu of flowers the family requests that you make a donation to the Huntsman Cancer Institute of Utah or your choice of cancer charity.

We will be having family and friends gather Friday, June 10, 2016 from 3:00 – 4:00 pm and will hold a memorial service from 4:00 – 5:00 pm at Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary, 727 North 400 East Bountiful, Utah 84010. Following the service we will have a potluck dinner at Mills Park, 1850 South 1200 West, Woods Cross, UT. There will also be a candlelight vigil and balloon send off at 9:00 pm.
