Rosie Evelyn Zito Hampson, 94, wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother passed away on April 1, 2019, of causes incident to age.
Rosie was born on June 1, 1924, to Matteo and Lucy Carleo Zito. She was the 9th of 10 children and learned hard work on the family farm in Roy, UT alongside her brothers and sisters. She was educated in Weber County Schools and graduated from Weber High, where she was a cheerleader during her senior year.
She worked as a nursing assistant for several doctors in the Ogden area and helped many young mothers-to-be prior to the births of their children. She was also a member of the Catholic Church, NARBW, UPEC#6, and The Ladies of the Railroad Auxiliary. During her life, she made many lasting friendships. She was also very involved with the activities of her grandchildren.
She married Othel E. Hampson on June 24, 1946. They traveled to various Trap Shoot meets, where he participated, and were able to see the USA and Europe. They had two children, Lynae (Larry) Butler, South Weber, UT and Bruce Hampson, Ogden, UT.
She is survived by her children, two granddaughters, and six great-grandchildren, and a very special sister-in-law, Irene Hampson Butler. She was preceded in death by her husband, parents, and all her siblings, leaving behind a rich Italian heritage.
Graveside services will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist’s Washington Heights Memorial Park, 4500 Washington Blvd. Friends may visit with family on Saturday from 12 to 1:30 p.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., followed by a family prayer.
The family expresses gratitude to Bristol Hospice, especially Sean and Dixie.
