George Ross Bagshaw
October 21, 1930 - February 27, 2020
Ross Bagshaw, age 89, passed away Thursday, February 27, 2020 in Clearfield, Utah.
Ross was born October 21, 1930 in Pittsburg, California to parents George and Laura Bagshaw. After moving to Utah he graduated from West High School in Salt Lake City.
At the age of 24, Ross met the love of his life when he “accidentally” bumped into Carolyn’s car while cruising State Street. The two were married September 7, 1955. Their marriage was blessed with four children: Corrie, Kelly, Shauna, and Troy.
Ross worked 43 years for the Salt Lake City Parks Department, climbing his way up the ranks from a member of the lawn crew to Superintendent. He also served in the Utah Air National Guard for 33 years, including a tour of duty in Korea during the Korean War. During his years of service he was awarded multiple Distinguished Service Medals.
Ross was an avid golfer. After retiring from the Parks Department, he went on to work for 20 years at Eaglewood Golf Course. He also had a passion for hunting, fishing, model trains and maintained one of Utah’s best saltwater aquariums in his home.
Ross was a proud husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be missed by many.
Graveside services will be held this Monday March 9, 2020 at 11am at the family plot in the Salt Lake City Cemetery: cross street 355 North 350 East, Salt Lake City, Utah 84103.
