Rowan Bennion Wade

Rowan Bennion Wade, 82, passed away Monday, September 16, 2013 at his home in Layton, Utah.

Rowan was born on January 13, 1931 in the community of Kelsey, Texas to Paul and Susie E. Ammonette Wade. He had pleasant memories of his early years growing up in eastern Texas. When he was ten, he moved to Mesa, Arizona.

He married Verdena Bateman on March 21, 1952, in Ogden, Utah and left shortly after to serve in the Korean Conflict. Over the years, he worked at Thiokol, the Ogden Standard Examiner and GSL Mineral. Over the past 10 years he worked as a greeter at Sam''s Club. He really loved his co-workers.

He loved his family dearly. He was always willing to entertain and play games with all the kids while the adults visited. His homemade ice cream was the hit of family gatherings. He loved gardening and enjoyed sharing cucumbers and tomatoes.

He was a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. He and Verdena were sealed in the Ogden Temple on February 2, 2004.

He is survived by his wife, Verdena, his children: Kelli Adams, Jeffrey, Becky Chambers (Michael), grandchildren: Justin Wade and Camille Wade; brothers and sisters, Gene (Joy), EvaNell Arbon, Louis, LaRee (Robert Mitchell), sister-in-law Donna Wade and a special family friend Cory Laycock.

He was preceded in death by his parents, three sisters and their husbands, Regina (Scott) Hooton, Leotha (Neil) Slagowski, Pauline (Plas) Brooks, brother, A. B. Wade, brother-in-law Alden Arbon and sister-in-law Sharon Wade.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, September 21, 2013 at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Layton Mortuary, 1867 No. Fairfield Road. Friends may visit family Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary. Interment, Lindquist''s Memorial Park at Layton, 1867 No. Fairfield Road.
