Roy Easton Kelsey

1924-2017

Our beloved Dad, Grandpa, Great Grandpa passed away at his home on June 13, 2017.

Roy was born on November 27, 1924 to Frank Easton and Minerva Bauer Kelsey in Cedar City, Utah, where he attended the public schools.
He served in the US Navy Seabees from July 1943 to December 1945. He married his sweetheart Elsie Limb, December 19, 1946 in the St. George, Utah LDS Temple.  Dad was strong in his LDS Church faith, teachings and principals.

Roy went to Branch Agricultural College, now Southern Utah State University in Cedar City. He moved to Salt Lake City to attend the University of Utah where he graduated with a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1952.  He assisted in the Bountiful Jeep Posse with his friend.   He enjoyed doing service for others.

He enjoyed doing electrical work, genealogy, family history record extraction, and temple work, Meals on Wheels, camping, family reunions, fishing, hunting, gardening and yard work.

Roy enjoyed spending time with his wife, children, siblings, family and dogs.  Dad was faithful in helping his parents.  After losing Daren (his youngest son in 1994) he decided to focus more on his children and grandchildren.  His wish was to remain in his home where he was taken care of by his son-in-law John McKnight, family members and other care givers.

He is survived by his children Bonnie L. Kelsey, Stephen E. (Mary) Kelsey, Roy L. Kelsey, Dawna K. (John) McKnight; son-in-law Steven Hansen; 14 grandchildren, and 12 great grandchildren.  Preceded in death by his parents and loving wife Elsie, daughters Patricia A. Greaney, Kathleen E. Hansen, son Daren P. Kelsey and grandson Zachary Hansen.

A special thanks to Renew Home Health and Hospice for taking care of our Dad.  Your services were exceptional.  We appreciated all the nurses.

Funeral services will be held 11:00 am Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at the Bountiful 4th Ward Chapel, 102 E. 1400 S. where friends may visit family from 9:30-10:30 am prior to services.

Interment, 1:00 pm Thursday, June 22, 2017 at Cedar City Cemetery.   Services entrusted to Lindquist’s Bountiful Mortuary.
