Ruby Wheelwright Buttars, 81, was finally released, Wednesday, January 9, 2008 from the confines of Multiple Sclerosis, which she had lived with for most of her life.
She was born September 18, 1926 in Ogden, Utah to Henry and Phoebe Clark Wheelwright.
On September 18, 1945, Ruby married Dorin Dean Buttars. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake LDS Temple on November 6, 1953.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints where she was active in the Relief Society. She loved to attend the church services at the Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehab Center.
Ruby loved her home and looked forward to her weekly visit. The family expresses gratitude to the handicap transportation system for providing service which allowed these visits. She enjoyed the outdoors and traveling in the motor home. Her favorite camping spot was the Sunrise campground in Logan Canyon among the pine trees.
Ruby helped organize and was an active member of the Ogden Area Committee of the MS Society and was featured in the "We Salute" article for the Standard Examiner. She was a talented artist and enjoyed painting, ceramics and crafts. One of her craft items won 2nd Place at the Utah State Fair. She spent countless hours assembling "Books of Remembrances" which are cherished by her family.
Reed Tso, a child with the Indian Placement program lived with her family for four school years.
Ruby is survived by her husband, Dorin; a daughter, Lois (Karl) Bodily, a son, David (Jane) Buttars; nine grandchildren, Darin Bair, Ellie Bair, Matthew Bair, Shelly Hittle , Tyson Bair, Trent Buttars, Chad Buttars, Tristin Plendl, Lisa Howells; and 17 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by five brothers, Donald (Fay) Wheelwright, DuWayne (Sherry) Wheelwright, Dennis (Beth) Wheelwright, Michael Wheelwright, and William (Carol) Wheelwright.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Funeral services will be held Monday, January 14th at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
Friends and family may call Sunday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m. at the mortuary.
Interment, Roy City Cemetery.
The family would like to thank the nursing staff and all of her friends at Mt. Ogden Nursing and Rehab Center and Inspiration Hospice for the love and care they gave to Ruby.
