Ruby Briggs Layne

Our beloved family Matriarch returned to our Heavenly Father and her precious husband, Earl, on Monday, May 2, 2011.

Ruby was born December 28, 1921 in Hooper, Utah the only daughter of Lyman and Pearl Briggs.

On November 20, 1940, Ruby married the love of her life, Earl Layne. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple on March 1, 1961.

Ruby was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, where she served in many joyful church callings. Over the years, she has been an active supporter, attending almost all sporting events of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. She was recently blessed with the birth of her 5th generation grandson. Words cannot express how happy and proud she was to be here for him.

Ruby is survived by four children, William (Judy) Layne, Linda (Butch) Messenger, Ray (Jean) Layne and Debbie (Kevin) Peer; 11 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, one great-great-grandson, with her second on the way.

She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 59 years, her parents, three brothers, Bert, Faye, Earl and a beautiful granddaughter, Julie.

Funeral services will be held Friday May 6th at 11 a.m. at the Marriott/Slaterville 2nd Ward Chapel, 250 North 1500 West.

The family will meet with friends on Thursday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist''s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South and Friday from 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. at the church.
