Ruby “Boots” L. Sims
RIVERDALE - Ruby “Boots” Lorraine Davis Sims, 80, died Thursday, August 21, 2008 in Ogden.
She was born April 26, 1928 in Malad City, Idaho, a daughter of Oliver Cofield and Hanna Williams Davis. She lived in Garland for 18 years where she graduated from Bear River High School. She later moved to Ogden and attended Stevens Henager Business College. She lived in Riverdale for the past 12 years.
On September 11, 1948, Boots married William Earl Sims in Ogden. They were later divorced.
She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in all auxiliaries of the church.
Boots worked at The Bon Marche and later worked for and retired from Mountain Bell Telephone Company. She was a member of the Telephone Pioneers.
Boots loved to cross stitch and spend time with her family. She loved her dogs, especially her most recent companion, Daisy. She also enjoyed gardening and roses.
Surviving are two sons and two daughters, Randy (Laurie) Sims, Layton; Stan (Connie) Sims, Syracuse; Laurel (Keeth) Kennington, Syracuse; Donna Hardy, Roy; 13 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving is one brother, Ronald J. (Carol) Davis, Garland.
She was preceded in death by her parents and one sister, Donna Mae Hull.
The family wishes to thank the staff at Crestwood Care Center and McKay-Dee Hospital I.C.U. for the compassionate care of their mother.
Funeral services will be held Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist’s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
Friends may call at the mortuary on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.
Interment, Garland, Utah Cemetery.
