Ruby B. Smith

Ruby B. Smith NORTH OGDEN – “Oh, what a joyous day! I fought a good fight. I finished my course. I kept the faith. I endured to the end.” I am now embracing my dear, eternal companion, my only true love, Clyde T. Smith and our son, Gregory Clyde. We were married for time and all eternity on May 21, 1947 in the Logan LDS Temple. A great void was left in our family the day he passed away, February 6, 1993. There has not been a day I haven’t loved and missed him. I was born January 6, 1928 to David Wanner and True Lofthouse Bodrero, in Logan, Utah. My maternal grandmother loved and raised me from age three until my wedding day. Mom passed away Wednesday, February 27, 2008 at her loving daughter’s home. Ruby was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints serving in several callings. Ruby’s greatest calling in life was that of being a good homemaker for her husband and children. She enjoyed sewing, singing, playing the piano, and golfing. Ruby was a friend to all and will be remembered for her smile and willingness to help. She lived in River Heights, Utah and in North Ogden for 50 years. The family wishes to express our thanks to all from IHC Homecare and Hospice who made it possible for her to remain with her daughter and family. A very special thanks to Julie, Bobbi, and Raelynn, who provided extra tender care with respect and love for our Mom. Surviving are two sons and one daughter, Kevin B. (Marie) Smith, St. George; Brian K. Smith, Taylorsville; Debbi (Glenn) Kartchner, North Ogden; daughters-in-law, Karen Ratta and Lorri Saffell; Shelley Polson, whom she loved as a daughter; her precious grandchildren, Karissa Cobb, Derek Clyde (LeNae) Smith, Kade M. (LaTressa) Smith, Trevor Smith, Jeffrey T. Smith, Kelly (Jaimee) Kartchner, Laura (Matt) Sims, Daniel (Jessica) Kartchner, Jared Kartchner and Haung (Jake) Watson; and 13 great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, an infant sister, her husband of 46 years, and one son, Gregory Clyde Smith. To my dear family – don’t grieve for me, for now I’m free. I’m following the path God laid for me. I took His hand when I heard Him call, I turned my back and left it all. I could not stay another day, to laugh, to love, to play. . .I found that peace at the close of day. If my parting has left a void, then fill it with remembered joy. A friendship shared, a laugh, a kiss, ah yes, these things I too will miss. Be not burdened with times of sorrow, I wish you the sunshine of tomorrow. My life’s been full, I savored much, good friends, good times, a loved ones touch. Perhaps my time seemed all too brief, don’t lengthen it now with undue grief. Lift up your hearts and share with me, God wanted me now, He set me free. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, March 4 at 11 a.m. at the North Ogden 20th Ward Chapel, 3100 North 575 East. Friends and family may call at Lindquist’s North Ogden Mortuary, 2140 North Washington Blvd., on Monday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Tuesday at the Ward Chapel 9:45 to 10:45 a.m. Interment, Ben Lomond Cemetery.
