Rudolph “Rudy” Christopher Mata courageously lost his battle with cancer on Monday, July 20, 2009.
He was born December 22, 1950 in Hotchkiss, Colorado to Antonio and Maria Mata. He was raised and educated in Tooele and graduated from Tooele High school. He obtained Bachelors Degrees from the University of Utah and Bridgewater University.
Rudy enlisted in the United States Army in 1968 and served two tours in Korea during the Vietnam War.
He was employed at the VA Hospital as Chief Accountant for 26 years until his retirement. He made good, life-long friends there. He then became an accountant for the State of Utah.
He married Kay Baek in August of 1970 and together they had three children before they divorced. On June 21, 1985, Rudy married Anita in Reno, Nevada and later solemnized the marriage at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in West Haven.
He enjoyed all sporting activities especially fishing, hunting, riding ATV’s, golfing, boating and others. He loved music and its history. He deeply loved his family and his many deer and elk hunting partners, the list goes on and on.
Rudy is survived by his wife, Anita; three children and two step-sons; his mother, Maria; four brothers and sisters, Anthony, John, Richard and Esther; grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his father, brother and two sisters.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, July 25th at 10:00 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 4050 South 3900 West, West Haven.
Friends and family may call Friday from 6 to 8 p.m. at Lindquist’s Roy Mortuary, 3333 West 5600 South.
Interment, Farmington City Cemetery.
