Rulon Sessions
1923-2013
Rulon Lawrence Sessions passed away October 29, 2013 in Bountiful, Utah. He was born on November 29, 1923 in Layton, Utah to Lawrence and Zilla Sessions. He was raised in Clearfield and graduated from Davis High School. He was a World War II veteran in the US Navy. He married his sweetheart, Maxine Emma Gumbrecht, on January 24, 1946 in Oakland, California. Their marriage was solemnized in the Salt Lake Temple on October 27, 1968.
Rulon was a dynamic salesman, working many years in the food business and later with his friend Grant Randle selling security alarms.
He was an avid gardener and had a great love of the outdoors, especially hunting and fishing with his dad, sons and brother Dean, as well as with close friends. Rulon enjoyed college sports and rose above the frey to cheer for both the Cougars and the Utes. He loved family parties, practical jokes and giving hugs. Active in the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, having served in many callings. He especially enjoyed home teaching.
Rulon is survived by his wife, Maxine and five children: Sharyn Heiner, Brent (Christine) Sessions, Rick (Lynette) Sessions, Debbie (Gary) Fowler, and Lori (Mike) Sims. He is also survived by 14 grandchildren and 33 great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents and siblings Norma and Dean, brother-in-law Howard and great-granddaughter Avi Jo.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 2, 2013 at the Bountiful Oak Hills Chapel, 455 South 1200 East, Bountiful, Utah, where friends may visit family from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to services. Interment, Lakeview Memorial Cemetery.
