RuLynn Watkins Skidmore

1944 — 2017

RuLynn Watkins Skidmore, 73, passed away peacefully at home on May 25, 2017 surrounded by her loving family.  Born January 4, 1944 in Brigham City, Utah to Melvin L. Watkins and Laurenia Annie Cameron; she grew up in Salt Lake City, Utah.  On June 29, 1967, she married Ray B. Skidmore, who she met sorting mail at the post office.  She was later sealed to her family in the Salt Lake Temple on April 18, 1977.  She and Ray were celebrating 50 years of marriage together this year.

RuLynn was a devoted member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints, and most recently served as a missionary alongside her husband at the South Davis Community Hospital Branch.  A graduate of South High School, she went on to earn her bachelor’s degree at the University of Utah where she studied history.  She enjoyed walking, sewing, bowling, reading, and quilting with her many friends.  Her greatest happiness, however, was her family--especially her grandchildren.  Wherever they were, you would find her--athletic events, birthday parties, baptisms, or concerts.  She made a life out of making the people around her feel loved and special.

She is survived by her husband Ray; her sister Montan (John); her six children: Matthew (Brittany), Andrea (Eli), Heather, Melissa, Alison (John), and Aaron (Andrea); her stepchildren: Debbie (Bill) and Brian; 24 grandchildren and 2 great grandchildren.  She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Max C. Watkins.  She was a living example of the Savior’s teachings, and we are thankful to have been a part of her remarkable life.

Memorial services will be held Wednesday, May 31, 2017, 11:00 a.m., at the Bountiful Fifty-Fourth Ward Chapel, located at 540 North 1200 East, Bountiful.  Family will receive friends at the church on Tuesday evening from 6:00-8:00 p.m., and 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. prior to the funeral services.  Interment at Bountiful City Cemetery.
