Russell F. Parmley
OGDEN - Russell F. Parmley, 96, died Wednesday, May 19, 2010 of complications from pneumonia and Waldenstrom''s disease, a rare form of blood cancer.
Russell was born June 18, 1913 in Ogden, Utah to Orsemus Alvin and Florence Hanscom Parmley. He attended Ogden City Schools, Weber College and the University of Utah.
He served for four years in the U.S. Army Air Corps.
Following his army service, he was manager of the Ogden branch of the Pacific Finance Corporation.
Russ married Elizabeth Williams on August 25, 1950. They moved to Coeur d''Alene, Idaho where he accepted a position with Liberty National Insurance. They later returned to Utah. He was with the Browning Company until his retirement in 1981.
After his retirement, Russ volunteered as a guide at the Ogden Union Station Museum for 27 years.
Surviving are his son, Richard (Kathryn) Parmley, Layton; daughter, Nancy (Michael) Real, McKeesport, PA; sister-in-law; Ellen Greenwell; six grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
Russ was preceded in death by his wife Bette, in 1984; son, Russell "Rusty" in 1967 and grandson Thane in 1984.
Funeral services will be held Monday at 2 p.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd., with the Rev. Dr. Rick Minnich officiating.
Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Monday from 12:45 to 1:45 p.m.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
