Ruth Secrist Bone
Ruth Secrist Bone died on a sunny Tuesday afternoon, September 28, 2010 in Pleasant Grove, Utah.
She passed quietly, as her children shared this special moment.
Our awesome mother, Ruth, was born on March 31, 1920 in Farmington, Utah to Henry and Charlotte Udy Secrist, the 10th of 12 children.
Ruth enthusiastically embraced the church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints throughout her life. She married our dad, Leland Edmonds Bone of Layton, Utah on June 3, 1940 in the Salt Lake City LDS Temple. Together, they created our family of four children, Cherie Lee Bone Pedersen (SLC, UT), Larry Alan Bone (Helena, MT), Donald Secrist Bone and his wife, Carol (Escondido, CA), and Marie Bone (Pleasant Grove, UT).
Our family began in Kaysville, Utah and relocated to Helena, Montana in 1962, where mom and dad remained until they retired in 1986. In addition to being a fantastic mom, and offering loads of service to her faith, she worked outside our home, mostly as manager of a Fashion Fabrics store. After retirement, she and dad shared time between Layton, UT and Mesa, AZ until Lee''s death in 1995. After that, Mom stayed in Layton for several years later spending winters at Marie''s home, then she and Marie became permanent roomies until her death. Mom felt especially blessed to have five incredible grandchildren. Cherie has Michael and Katherine Pedersen, Larry has Ian (Married to Valerie) and Andy Bone, Don and his wife Carol have Hailey.
Our family expresses our profound gratitude to friends at Hearts for Hospice and Homewatch Caregivers, who assisted us. Donations can be made to the Hearts for Hospice Organization at 944 Chambers St. #16, So. Ogden, Utah 84403.
On Friday, October 1, 2010 at 3 p.m., we invite family and friends to a graveside service where Ruth will join her loving husband, and our dad, Lee at Farmington City Cemetery.
On Saturday, October 2, 2010 at 12:30 p.m., our family will honor our mother, Ruth and celebrate her life with a memorial service to be held at the LDS ward building, 2120 W. Gentile St., Layton, Utah.
