During World War II, Ruth was introduced to the man that became the love of her life, Loa Virgil Brown, and on February 28, 1945 they married in the Salt Lake LDS Temple. Together they raised their family of three daughters and two sons. Throughout her life she was loving and generous to all her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, brothers and sisters. She received the Mother of the Year award for Weber County and was first runner-up for the State of Utah.
Ruth continued her education earning a bachelor and master degrees from the University of Utah and later her doctorate degree from Brigham Young University. She began teaching psychiatric nursing at Weber State College and became a full tenured professor. On numerous occasions she was awarded the Outstanding Teacher Award in the School of Allied Health Sciences and the Presidential Distinguished Professor Award in 1980-81.
Ruth was a faithful member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served as a Relief Society President, Young Women’s Advisors and Sunday School instructor. Ruth and Loa served an 18 month service mission in central Ogden and in their later years were temple workers in the Ogden Temple.
Ruth enjoyed camping, fishing, boating and traveling with her family and friends. She loved attending ceramic classes with her sisters and made many precious keepsakes for her family and friends.
