Ruth Allred Dipoma

Ruth Allred Dipoma, passed, away Thursday, May 12, 2011.

She was born in Hyrum, Utah on January 24, 1922 to Edith Israelsen and Rollan Allred. She graduated from South Cache High and attended Utah State Agricultural College.

During World War II she was employed at Hill Air Force Base where she met Ray A. Dipoma. They were married on June 26, 1942. Their vows were later solemnized in the Logan LDS Temple.

Ruth worked with her husband in the family grocery business, Dipoma''s Mobile Market and Dipoma''s Market on 28th Street. In addition, she worked as a cashier at McKay-Dee Hosptial.

Ruth was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She also served for many years with the Daughters of the Utah Pioneers.

Ruth enjoyed quilting and handicrafts, sharing her time and energies with others. Her greatest accomplishment was her ability to provide compassionate service to anyone in need. She took excellent care of her husband up until she became critically ill despite her pain and weakness. She was very proud of her dedication in taking care of his needs to her last days. Ruth also wanted to thank Applegate Hospice for their loving and professional service to both she and Ray.

Ruth enjoyed spending each winter at their vacation home in Apache Junction, AZ.

Surviving are her husband Ray "Nino"; children, Dewey (Karen) Dipoma, Pleasant View; Nancy (Stephen) Russell, North Ogden; Tami (Ron) Proctor, Nordic Valley; Terry (Youn Su) Dipoma, Draper; and Chris Dipoma, a daughter-in-law, San Antonio, TX. In addition, for many years she raised her sister, Louise (Dennis) Wakefield, South Ogden. At the time of her death, she had 14 grandchildren and 16 great-grandchildren, along with eight step-grandchildren and 32 step-great-grandchildren. Ruth was very close to her Allred nieces and nephews and they were very near and dear to her heart. She cherished the loving association with each of them.

Also surviving are the following brother and sisters, Evan (Vicki) Allred, Juanita Wyatt Naef and Louise (Dennis) Wakefield.

Preceding her in death were her son Larry Dipoma, and her brothers and sisters, Weston, Darrell, Quay, Leslie, Leroy, Clark, Loyd and Carla.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Lindquist''s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.

Family will meet with friends at the mortuary on Tuesday from 6 to 8 p.m. and Wednesday 9:45 to 10:45 a.m.

Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
